Elite One: Ekoi Manfred Named In Team Of The Week

Playing just his third game in Cameroon’s Elite One championship, Ekoi Manfred has kept proving what a Marquee player he is for Yong Sports Academy.

Credible local football magazine ‘Les Amoureux Elite 1&2’ listed Manfred in their team of match day 6 in the MTN Elite 1 despite YOSA losing 1-0 to Fovu at the Bamendzi stadium in Bafoussam.

The match day team features a sync of great performers from goal scorers to assist providers and cameos of succinct defensive displays. PWD’s Tangko junior bagged a brace and sits tall in the left flank, Harrison Djonkep on the right. Colombe’s Amine leads the line. Atsama and Noah are placed as Manfred’s shield, while Banda occupies the left, and Ayuk, the right-back position. Mbida Anguissa gets a place in the midfeild for helping Renaissance defeat Canon. He is partnered with Seko and Moluh.

Since returning from the Olympic Lions’ camp, the Best Stars Academy graduate has kept his form that made him receive a call from U23 Lions gaffer, Guy Fetchine in the first place.

Manfred has played against Union Sportif, AS Fortuna and Fovu this season. The 20 year old is yet to keep a clean sheet, but his superb performances have made him gain favour in the eyes of the fans across the country.

Next up for Manfred is a trip to Garoua on Wednesday, Nov. 16 where YOSA will pit Gazelle, as the youngster continues to ascend to glory.
