Elite One: YOSA Inflicts Back-To-Back Defeats On Cotonsport

Ngong Neville won and converted a penalty for YOSA, as they defeated group B leaders – Cotonsport, on match day 11 of the Elite One Championship.

Yong Sports Academy of Bamenda have picked up their first victory in three games. The victory came courtesy deputy captain – Ngong Neville, and has helped drown this year’s semi finalists of the TotalEnergies Confederation Cup.

Coming back from a back-to-back defeat against Tonnerre Kalara club, Yong Sports Academy have gotten a little bit of gloss, in the championship, ironically inflicted straight defeats on Cotonsport for the first time this season.

YOSA gaffer Nkabyo Martin made just three changes from the side that impressed but lost two – nil away to Cotonsport on match day 2 of the championship.

The Academicians started their game dominating from the very on set. 18 year old Agbor Emmanuel had half chances, coupled with those of captain Randy Kwalla, but Narcisse Nlend matched their shots with great reflexes.

Narcisse Nlend was making his way back into the team after missing out a cup game and last Cotonsport’s defeat to Apejes Academy.

The two teams pulled through to a dead rubber in the first half. The second half was the same old story. Ngong Neville was making a menace of himself and eventually reaped his reward – after the hour mark. Former Panthere defender Herve Ngomo clipped Neville’s foot in the penalty area.

The Astres FC transfer target last term, Ngong Neville, wrong footed Narcisse Nlend to gift YOSA the lead.

Ngong Neville will be hoping to replicate his form last season where he scored 8 goals in 27 appearances, leading YOSA to a 6th place finish.
