Eto’o files appeal pending CAF elections
Samuel Eto’o Fils, the president of the Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT), has filed an appeal with the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) following his disqualification from the upcoming Confederation of African Football (CAF) elections, sportglitz.com reports.
The former Indomitable Lions striker had declared his candidacy for the CAF presidency but was excluded from the list of qualified candidates released in January.
His absence from the list came as a surprise to many observers across the continent.
According to reports, Eto’o is challenging the CAF’s decision and has formally requested CAS to overturn the ruling, allowing him to participate in next month’s election.
Eto’o, who has been a vocal advocate for reforms in African football, but always on the headlines for mostly the wrong reasons, hopes the appeal will restore his candidacy and allow him to be part of the CAF executive committee.
