“Unpopular” Eto’o has statue vandalized in yaounde by cameroonians
The statue of Samuel Eto’o erected at the town hall of Yaoundé 6, where he had also been made an honorary citizen, is today only a shadow of itself.
Images currently circulating on social networks has the monument of the president of the Cameroon Football Federation, and former captain of the Indomitable Lion, in ruins.
Clear reasons for that act remains unknown but this, comes admits controversy surrounding Samuel Eto’o, and Cameroon’s poor performances in different categories of its national categories.
The Yaoundé 6 district town hall has not yet made an official communication on the act of vandalism. This is the second time that the monument has been destroyed. The statue was left without its “left arm” for a very long time.
Building a monument to Eto’o’s glory was to honor him while he is still alive. It was on Monday, December 21, 2020 that that the statue was unveiled.
On that famous day, the former captain of the Indomitable Lion inaugurated the monument by himself.
On the same day, Samuel Eto’o was also honored with his presence with a Christmas tree ceremony organized by the Town Hall of Yaounde through the Mayor of the said district municipality.
