Europa League: Carlos Baleba & Brighton suffer R16 exit
Carlos Baleba’s Brighton won against Roma but were still eliminated from the round of 16s of the Europa League.
The margin was too high for the Seagulls on Thursday evening against Roma. With a deficit of 4 goals, Brighton could only score one. Not enough to continue their adventure.
With a comfortable lead of 4 goals, Danielle De Rossi reshuffled his team.
Brighton pushed but only manage to score once in the 37th minute, inspired and finished by Dany Welbeck. It wasn’t enough to hope to qualify. Roma sailed through with a cumulative score of 4 goals to 1 on aggregate.
Excellent against Nottingham Forest last weekend, Carlos Baleba started the match on the bench. The Cameroonian played only the last 5 minutes – which was Insufficient to change anything in the meeting.
