Exclusive: Coach Agbor Ernest quits Bamboutos
Coach Agbor Ernest has effectively communicated his resignation to the Bamboutos Football Club this Sunday September 22, sportglitz can confirm.
” I am writing to resign from my coaching position at Bamboutos Football Club of Mbouda with immediate effect,” an excerpt from the letter reads.
The gaffer however, did not provide exact details as to why the decision was taken, but members of his entourage have cited non payment of sign on bonuses and external influence on the team’s transfer dealings, as key reasons for his resignation.
Coach Agbor Ernest joined the Mangwa Boys as a fire fighter towards the end of last season, taking over Ghana’s Joseph Asare Bediako.
He managed to keep the team afloat in the hotly contested 2023/2024 Elite one “playoffs down”, where the two-time Cameroon cup finalists finished 4th with 15 points.
A lot of Elite One clubs will keep close tabs on the former Cotonsport coach who had a good start to the league last season with Les Astres, but threw in the towel due to unresolved problems of players’ bonuses.
Bamboutos now have the uphill task of scouting another gaffer at a time when most Elite One clubs have resumed training, anticipating the league to debut in October.
