Exclusive: Cotonsport Writes To FIFA On Wanted Djawal
Cotonsport of Garoua has reported an alleged hijack of its midfeilder Kaiba Djawal to the world Football Governing Body (FIFA), this Saturday March 18.
The player has been conspicuously absent from training sessions and the team’s match day 5 game against Ahly in the TotalEnergies CAF champions league on Friday.
The worrisome situation first popped into air space when Cotonsport coach Gabriel Haman was quizzed on the player’s absence on the match day squad, and he went on to say he had no idea, in the post match presser of the Coton-Ahly game.
Further sportglizt sources have indicated that the player could well be on his way to Austria with his agent, without any notice to the club.
In January, Kaiba Djawal agreed a switch to Austrian club SC Rheindorf ALTACH (SCRA) for three seasons with an optional year on the table for a reported $200 thousand.
However, Altach and Cotonsport agreed for the player to play the group stage of the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League and complete the ongoing season before joining his new club in June.
‘We continue our investigations having asked coach Gabriel Haman, Sporting Director, Adamou Saliou and the team’s captain, who responded that the player has been absent from training sessions on March 13 and 14,’ part of the team’s letter to FIFA reads.
Djawal started his CAF champions league campaign on a good note with two assists against Hilal and Sundowns, all converted by teammate, Wassou Patient.
Aged 19, Djawal Kaiba had a stellar last two seasons for club and country, emerging with some big goals.
The midfeilder scored 8 goals and dished out 9 assists underway to Cotonsport’s 17th Elite One title.
For country, he capped off last year with three goals for three different categories; Under 23s, U20s and the indomitable Lions in a warm up game against Jamaica.
Most recently, the midfeild metronome just made his way from the CHAN 2022 where he represented Cameroon in Algeria, playing two games against Congo and Niger in group E, as the intermediate Lions exited in the group stage.
Before the African Nations Championship (CHAN), Kaiba was part of Cameroon’s U20 team that played the UNIFFAC last December. He was equally in the Olympic Lions (Under-23) side that defeated Angola and he was pre selected for the 2022 Qatar World Cup.
