Exclusive: Zamalek submits first bid for out-of-sight Oyongo

Egyptian giants Zamalek SC. have made a first move to secure full-back Ambroise Oyongo Bitolo, sportglitz.com can exclusively report.

Zamalek have dropped a massive $ 400 thousand for a two-year deal. The Ndikiniméki native who has been out of action for a season due to injury squabbles, is currently assessing the option with his camp.

This is the first real considerable offer that has come for the 31-yea-old, despite bids from other clubs around the gulf region.

Prior to his detachment from French Ligue 1 side Montpellier, the 2017 AFCON winner found it difficult to keep a starting berth at Montpellier, which prompted a loan stint with Russian side, Krasnodar.

The sweeper made his debut for Krasnodar on 28 February 2021 in a Russian Premier League game against Ural Yekaterinburg, when he substituted injured Yevgeni Chernov in the 33rd minute. However, at half-time, Oyongo had to be substituted due to injury himself. On 4 March 2021, his agent later announced that he will have to be operated on in Spain and will not be able to play for Krasnodar for the duration of the loan and will not return to the club.

5-time TotalEnergies CAF champions league winners Zamalek are at the verge of ending the current campaign barren, a narrative which the club’s executive look to change, and possibly retain the Egyptian premier league crown they won in 2021/22.

In the course of this season, Zamalek have mostly used Hossam Abdelmaguid and Hatem Mohamed at the left side of defense; players with relatively lower profiles vis-a-vis Oyongo.

Oyongo Bitolo is marque in the grand scheme of things in Egypt. He was a starter for Cameroon in the side that defeated Egypt in Gabon to clinch the Indomitable Lions’ 5th AFCON title.
