Exploring New Cycling Horizons: Cameroon’s Federation Unveils Challenging 102km Route

Amidst the buzz of a new sports season, the Cameroonian Cycling Federation has made a significant stride by embarking on an inspection and reconnaissance mission of a fresh competition route. Led by Honoré Yossi, the federation’s president, and a dedicated team, this endeavor focused on unraveling a captivating cycling trail spanning Akono in the Mefou department and Akono, Lolodorf in the Ocean department of the southern region, with a scenic passage through Mvengue.

Spanning a distance of 102 kilometers, this newly discovered route presents cyclists with a diverse terrain featuring well-paved roads boasting varying profiles, from flats to false flats, and challenging slopes that exceed 10% over approximately 4 kilometers. With altitudes ranging between 450 to 750 meters, this impeccable road guarantees an exhilarating and demanding cycling experience for all participants.

This meticulous inspection and reconnaissance mission serve as a crucial stepping stone towards the organization of forthcoming national and international cycling competitions in Cameroon. Upcoming Bike Race Details:
“The National Bike Race,” shall mark the commencement of the 2025 sports season. Scheduled for Sunday, February 2, 2025, the race will unfold on two distinct tracks:

  • Senior Category: Riders from all ten regions of Cameroon will tackle the challenging 102km route, spanning Lolodorf in the Ocean Division, Sud Region, and Akono in the Mefou and Akono Division, Center Region. The senior category will commence at 10:00 am from the grandstand of Lolodorf, with the race concluding at the Catholic Church roundabout of Akono at 1:20 pm.
  • Junior and Women Categories: Participants in the junior and women categories will embark on a 37km journey from Ngomedzap to Akono. Their race will kick off at 10:00 am from Ngomedzap, with the finish line awaiting them at 12:00 pm.
