FAF Extend Djamel Belmadi’s Contract

Caught-up in full reflection on his future following the fiasco at AFCON 2021 and the failure in the play-offs of the 2022 World Cup, Djamel Belmadi and FAF have chosen to keep working ties.

The Algerian Football Federation (FAF) formalized the extension of the technician’s contract this Friday, January 6 – after lengthy talks and the situation fueled speculations.

Recently, there were speculations that the AFCON 2019 winner was considering lifting the white flag.

Quizzed this Friday on the airwaves of Radio Chaîne III, Djahid Zefizef,
the president of the FAF, spoke on the airwaves of radio Chains III and clarified the situation.

“Belmadi’s contract has been extended until 2026 with objectives defined for AFCON 2023 and 2025,” said the FAF boss.

It is therefore with the technician on the bench that the Algeria will start the preliminaries of the next big competitions: AFCON 2023, AFCON 2025 and the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, provided of course that the objectives are achieved for each competition.
