Fans die in celebration mode after Guinea’s win over the Gambia

Six fans reportedly died and several others injured on Friday in Conakry amid wild celebrations after Guinea’s win against the Gambia.

Six people died and several others were injured in Conakry on a road accident, as supporters of the Guinea celebrated Friday evening’s victory against Gambia at the African Cup of Nations, sportglitz learned this Monday, from a country source.

Two vehicles traveling at high speed collided, causing the tragedy.

Young people on motorbikes, those seated on car edges, equally had minor injuries after other incidents occurred, according to the same source.

Guinean supporters took to the streets at the end of the match played in Yamoussoukro, against Gambia (1-0), a victory which meant Guinea moved significantly closer to the round of 16 of the African Cup of Nations, which takes place in Cote D’Ivoire.
