Fans Praise Ekoi Manfred After Debut For YOSA

Shot – stopper, Ekoi Manfred was fielded in Yong Sports Academy’s 2-1 defeat against Union Sportif of Douala, but the youngster showed glimpses of what a great prospect he remains, in the land of special goalies.

Absent in the first game on the road against Bamboutos due to paper work, the sweeper was given a nod by coach David Kamogne to guard goal against a fierce Union Sportif of Douala side.

Despite Foning’s brace; nothing he or the world’s best could do to keep it out, the youngster was calm and performed despite pressure from the home fans and its supporters.

Aged 20, he showed great positioning, communication and agility and he was unbreakable all through the first half, before conceding in the second.

‘He is very good. Once he picks up the experience completely, he will be a gem,’ a unanimous Union Sportif of Douala fan commented after the game.

Ekoi Manfred entered the YOSA roster in a little under a four days before the championship, but as a great competitor, he has worked his way to being first choice for the club.
