Fatshi U20 cup: Anicet Yala wants more than gold
With four teams queued up in the Democratic Republic of Congo for the inaugural edition of the Fatshi U20 cup, Gabon enters the fray with a different objective.
24 hours prior to the showdown, coach Anicet Yala stated that his wish is to see the starlets build up a particular style and approach towards games.
“We are trying to put in place a new team in the category. Going as far as possible is good, but having a team that can compete is better. I am confident in my team, and only 90 minutes will tell.” The gaffer uttered.
Gabon have been missing from the grand scheme of things at the youth categories, with absences and poor performances.
The Panthers pulled out of the U20 UNIFFAC hosted last December due to lack of funds.
Coach Yala’s side are like newbies in the mix given that the 3 other participants played against each other in December.
Gabon starts her tournament journey against hosts DR Congo in the first game of the afternoon at the Stade Martyrs on Saturday.
