Fatshi U20 cup: ‘we are not favorites,’ Congo’s Massamba Clement
Tension is palpable and it could be felt in the voices of athletes from the four nations to take part in the Fatshi U20 cup, begining with Congo.
UNIFFAC U20 holders Congo, are off a stellar run both at zonal and later, in the continent with a rare sight at the U20 AFCON knockouts.
Coach Clement Massamba is seemingly using the Fatshi U20 cup as a perfect dress rehearsal for the upcoming Francophonie tournament.
“We came to prepare our team for the tournament that will be played here; the francophonie.
“We started our preparations from Brazaville. We felt like it was a good time for us to test with our neighbors. It is from this that we are going to know our level.”
Despite the gaffer’s poise, there is still some optimism to prolly win or battle for a spot amongst the top 3.
“To lift the trophy is a dream of all the teams. However, we are not favorites. We are here to learn. This, however, wouldn’t stop us from being competitive.” Massamba ended.
19-year-old defender, Diambomba Davarel – uttered that he and his teammates are ready to back the gaffer’s ideology.
“We came here to fly our flag high. A team’s performance depends on the trainer. So, we will align to what the gaffer says, but in the course of the competition, objectives could change.
“We know CAR as well as they know us. We played twice in the space of 4 months, and both teams left with lessons. Let’s see what tomorrow holds,” FC Nathaly’s midfeild cum defender ended.
