FIFA/Coca-Cola women’s world ranking: Nigeria advances, top seeds unchanged
Almost three months after the last publication of the FIFA/Cola-Cola Women’s World Ranking, the world’s football governing body has released a new classification. On the list, the leaders maintained their different positions.
Ranked 40th globally, Nigeria remains the best in Africa, followed respectively by South Africa (54th), Cameroon (56th), Ghana (58th) and Ivory Coast (66th).
At least 101 international matches were played during this quarter. Pre-2023 Women’s World Cup friendly matches as well as the Asian qualifications for the Women’s Olympic Football Tournament, Paris 2024 were notably on the agendas of the national teams. And these games caused some changes within the world hierarchy.
At the world stage, admittedly, the Top 5 remains the same. The United States is still in the lead, followed by a European quartet made up of Germany (2nd), Sweden (3rd), England (4th) and France (5th).
The next edition of the FIFA/Coca-Cola Women’s World Ranking will be published on August 25, 2023.
