FIVB Rankings: Cameroon Advance In Placements

The volleyball Lionesses of Cameroon have been ranked top on the African continent in the most recent ranking made publicon Monday, August 9, 2021 by the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB).

Cameroon gathered 134 points and climbs to 26th in the world, and 1st in Africa.

The second African nation, following Cameroon from behind is Kenya, 2019 African Women’s Volleyball championship runners-up, who rank 32nd in the world with 121 points.

The African top 10 is completed respectively by;

Algeria (38th world/ 116 points), Egypt (43rd world/ 110 points), Senegal (44th world/110 points), Morocco (65th world/84 points) , Botswana (75th worldwide/ 63 points), Tunisia (79th world/ 59 points), the DRC and Uganda (90th world/ 56 points).

Thanks to their success during the Olympic games, the USA (424 points) ranks first in the world ahead of Brazil (380 points) and China (350 points).

For the men, Cameroon ranks 24th in the world with 137 points and 3rd in Africa. Cameroon falls behind Tunisia (2nd African, 18th world) and Egypt (1st African, 16th world).

In the World Men’s FIVB rankings, Brazil are 1st in the world with 395 points ahead of Poland (2nd, 381 points) and Russia (3rd, 373 points).

These rankings come at a time when the Men and Women’s national selections of Cameroon are preparing for the African Nations Championships scheduled between September 5 and 20, 2021 in Kigali, Rwanda.
