Draws for the FIVB Women’s Volleyball World Championship Holland & Poland 2022, was held in Lausanne, Switzerland, on Thursday evening, and countries now know their fate, with fans of Cameroon particularly happy with the outcome.

Cameroon is lodged in the group A with the Netherlands; one of the host countries, alongside; Italy, Belgium, Puerto Rico and Kenya.

For the first time in the history of the competition, two African countries will face each other in the group stage.

The 24 participating teams were divided into four pools of six each. They will play all their first matches at the GelreDome in Arnhem, while the group B and group C participants will play at the Polish cities of Gdansk and Lodz respectively.

Joint hosts Poland, will rumble in the group stage along with Turkey, the Dominican Republic, South Korea, Thailand and Croatia, drawn in Pool B. USA, last year’s Tokyo 2020 Olympic champions and current FIVB World Ranking leaders, are in group C, which also includes 2018 world champions Serbia, while second ranked in the world, Brazil, champions of South America, are placed in group D.

Despite the fact that 3 pillars of Jean Rene Akono’s team: Laetitia Moma, Stephanie Fotso and Christelle Nana all retired this month, Cameroon has still got a good enough team to challenge her opponents. The tourney starts from October 23rd to October 15th.
