Former Indomitable Lions Coach Gweha Ikouam Dies In Emana

Gweha Ikouam Fils, 61, died this Sunday morning through a road accident in the Emana district in the city of Yaounde, according to unofficial information obtained from the police station of the 6th district in Etoudi.

Gweha Ikouam was formerly a sports teacher at the National Institute of Youth and Sports (INJS) in Yaoundé.

The former Tonnerre of Yaoundé and Unisport of Bafang coach was crowned African vice-champion in the dugout of the lions in the 2008 Africa Cup of Nations.

It becomes a second casualty within a fortnight after the death of former Cameroonian international Mbami Modeste.

Gweha Ikouan was born on April 21, 1961 in Douala. He studied at the CBC Babylone Douala Primary School, and later attended the Libermann Douala College. He entered the University of Yaoundé, Faculty of Law and Economics from 1982-1985.

Gweha completed his academic course between 1985-1989 at the National Institute of Youth and Sports – INJS, with a speciality at the in the Football – Training section.
