Fovu-UMS ends in dead rubber
2023 Cameroon cup winners Fovu club of Baham graced the Japoma Annex A stadium on Saturday 14, against Union movement Sportif of Loum with a one-all draw.
The result now makes it 3 without a victory for the men of coach Emmanuel Ndoumbe Bosso, with three draws recorded in the opening games of the campaign.
With just 14 players listed on their match day squad due to internal disputes between players and management, as regards unpaid bonuses, it was Fovu who took the lead.
As early as the 6th minute, a heavily banded Urbain Fossi scored from close range after a moment of hesitation from Bertin Ngemaleu and goalkeeper Camille Ombolo.
Fovu managed the game to near perfection, and was headed for a famous win until the 86th minute when UMS equalised.
Second half substitute Konrad Nfanseu was a real menace after making his way into the field and it was his pace, and powerful drill down the right that ricocheted off Acha Lovis and went in for one-all.
The game was UMS’ first of the campaign, and indeed the first point recorded by the newly appointed Bep Constantine.
Up next for Fovu on Wednesday is Victoria United, fresh off a 2-1 defeat in clutch of Stade Renard.
UMS meanwhile, will face YOSA at the kouekong Annex stadium on Wednesday 18. YOSA and UMS will both be looking for a first win this campaign.
