Galatasaray Set To Snap Ahly’s Aliou Dieng

Galatasaray have joined the chasing pack of European suitors to court Mali international midfeilder – Aliou Dieng.

Coach Fatih Terim has reportedly put Al Ahly midfielder Aliou Dieng as a high priority signing for the Turkish giants in the upcoming transfer window.

Dieng joined Al Ahly in July 2019 from Algerian club MC Alger and since then he has been an integral part of the Reds’ squad.

Three goals and seven assists in 77 games is the balance sheet of the Malian defensive midfielder during his stay in Cairo, helping the club to the treble in his debut season.

The 23-year-old had reportedly gathered interest from many European clubs but the Reds have managed to retain him after he put pen-to-paper for a new contract at the start of the year, keeping him until 2026.

This didn’t stop Galatasaray from pursuing his signature as they had shown interest in acquiring Dieng, something Al Ahly previously denied.

However, the Turkish news outlet Takvim confirmed that he’s still a top priority for the Turkish giants who are looking to strengthen their midfield ahead of the upcoming season. The report suggests that they will offer Al Ahly a loan deal for with an option to buy.

Dieng recently reached his second consecutive CAF Champions League final with the Red Devils, where faced South Africa’s Kaizer Chiefs on July 17, and eventually won, though for tactical reasons, Dieng was sat out by Pitso.
