Ghana’s AFCON Exit: Sports Ministry Orders Milovan Rajevac Be Sacked

By Ngome Michael

The Ministry of Youths and Sports in Ghana has asked the Ghanian Football Association to fire Serbian head coach, Milovan Rajevac following elimination at AFCON group stage.

In a Crisis Meeting, with GFA officials, the ministry has opted for the sacking of Rajevac and dessolving of Black Stars technical team led by the Serb as part of ways to solve the national team’s abysmal performance in the ongoing AFCON in Cameroon.

After the meeting, the GFA has been instructed to review the work capacity of current Black technical team, intimating it has lost confidence in the eyes of Ghanian people on its ability to deliver success.

Reports from the West African Nation however suggest the Football Association is reluctant to implement the decisions.

Ghana will in the hours ahead know their opponent in the Qatar 2022 final World Cup Qualifiers scheduled for March this year.

Milovan Rajevac’s second coming has been a disaster to one of the successful teams in the AFCON, Ghana. In 23 appearances, Ghana has featured in the final phases of the competition more than any other African Country.

The Serbian was the brain behind Ghana’s exceptional performance in the 2008 and 2010 AFCON World Cup respectively.

Under Milovan in Cameroon 2021, the four time champions have probably crashed out with the worst record of two defeats and a draw in round one.

An estimated sum $25 000 will be paid to the Black Stars Coach should he be laid off his duty, with close to 9months left on his contract.
