Government pressure forces Andre Onana out of International retirement
After numerous written requests from the Cameroonian state via its minister of sports and physical education – Professor Narcisse Mouelle kombi, Andre Onana has given his okay to U-turn from international retirement.
Andre Onana has been listed amongst 24 players to face Burundi next September in Garoua.
‘there was no problem from the onset,’ Coach Rigobert Song told journalists at the FECAFOOT Technical center at Odza.
‘He knew what to do to make a return, and if he is here today, it means he did what was needed’, the former Indomitable Lions captain ended.
According to sportglitz sources, after having written to Inter, minister Narcisse Mouelle followed up with letters addressed to Manchester United and the players’ entourage.
It should be recalled that Andre Onana’s resigned shortly after he was suspended from the Indomitable Lions squad during the Qatar World Cup.
To the Sports Minister, his expulsion was a result of, “a regrettable misunderstanding with the technical staff.”
Andre made the headlines during the off season after a smooth campaign with Inter where he stared in the Champions league final.
English club Manchester United completed the signing of the Cameroonian for a reported 51 million euros, which saw the 27-year-old join United on a five-year contract.
Onana won a man of the match award in his first EPL game against Wolves before conceding four against Spurs and Forest.
