Grant Touch Down In Zambia Ahead Of Talks To Talks To Take-Over Chipolopolo

FAZ now looks set to announce a new trainer to replace Aljosa Asanovic, and all fingers are pointing towards the end of Aram Grant, who has reportedly arrived Zambia to conclude negotiations with FAZ.

A panel of experts comprising of FAZ representatives, government, and the Zambia Football Coaches Association (ZAFCA) milled through candidates shortlisted and it is now clear that Avram Grant got the nod ahead of Hossam Albadry, Antoine Hey, Peter Butler, Sebastian Migne and Gert Engels.

Since Sven Vandebroeck, there has been some instability as a queue of coaches have come and gone without any real impact for the Chipolopolo.

The Football Association of Zambia have as an immediate ambition to qualify the men’s national selection to the next AFCON. Placed in group H of the AFCON 2023 qualifiers, Zambia are second behind Cote D’Ivoire.

The next coach which is very likely to be Grant, will be charged with the responsibility to qualify the team to the AFCON after 3 years of absence.

67 year old Grant formerly coached the Ghana Black Stars from 2014-2017. He ended runner-up in the 2015 AFCON with Ghana.

He equally has massive experience with club sides having coached Chelsea, Portsmouth and West Ham in the premier league, amongst others.
