This season under the era of the new president of the Cameroonian Football Federation (Fecafoot), Samuel Eto’o, Fecafoot is providing support of 50,000 FCFA per month for the salaries of the players, in addition to the usual support from the official sponsors, Guinness Cameroon.
As per the president of the women’s football league, “this decision by Samuel Eto’o represents an addition of 5.5 million FCFA per club. It is a descent sum especially since an additional 50 million FCFA is granted to the first five in the championship,” stated a joy-filled Celine Eko.
Another innovation will be the top-matches that will now be called “Guinnessico”. Twenty-two matches in total are planned for this season; 11 home and 11 reversed fixtures.
‘Guunessico’ games or key matches will be broadcast live on television. With twelve clubs participating in the championship, a champion will emerge after 132 matches played.
