H.E Paul Biya’s ‘Winning Decision’ Takes Cameroon To Qatar

Oftentimes referred to as the number 1 Sports Man, President Paul Biya will oversee Cameroon’s 8th participation in Qatar later this year.

The head of State is arguably the world’s most decorated President, and Qatar is going to be just one of several sports achievements.

Congratulations on your brilliant qualification to the FIFA World Cup #Qatar2022. You proved, once again, that impossible is not Cameroonian.’ The head of State wrote, after Cameroon’s victory over Algeria.

Well, as flashback, it all started from the famous appointment of Rigobert Song on February 28.

The country’s Minister of Sports and Physical Education Narcisse Mouelle Kombi included in his statement that the appointment was as a result of “high instructions” of President Paul Biya.

Many initially ruled out Cameroon after the appointment from making the World Cup, but just like many other sports related decisions, the President stood corrected.

A month later, Song has marshalled Cameroon to the World Cup in Qatar after a 2-all draw in the tie, on aggregate.

H.E Paul Biya has witnessed; Spain 1982, Italy 1990, USA 1994, France 1998, Korea/Japan 2002, SA 2010, Brazil 2004, and he is set for Qatar 2022.

Cameroon reached the quarter finals in 1990, which till date is the equal-best performance by any African team.

It will definitely be the Head of State’s wish to see Cameroon go a step further in Qatar, later this year.
