Handanovic Reacts To Onana’s Arrival At Inter

Samir Handanovic awaits to be offered a new Inter contract before the end of this month, despite the imminent arrival of Andre Onana from Ajax.

Talking to DAZN, the veteran goalie said: “Its not a problem for me, I just want the team to be stronger.

“I am out of contract in June – I hope we can reach an agreement but there’s nothing decided,” ended Handanovic.

The 37-year-old Slovenian shot stopper’s contract expires with the Nerazzurri at the end of this campaign and there’s an air of uncertainty as the player’s 10-year adventure at Inter could come to an end.

The contract renewal talks between Inter and Handanovic was set to take place after the March international break, but there’s little or no update till this moment.

Handanovic wants to stay with the Nerazzurri and he’s not particularly concerned by Onana’s arrival, appreciating that the club need to plan ahead for the future.

Ajax goalkeeper Andre Onana signed a five-year deal with Inter Milan in January, before the African Cup of Nations. The Cameroon international will join the Serie A champions in July 2022 as a free agent. The 25-year-old is seen as a replacement for an aging Samir Handanovic.

Inter beat out teams the likes of Arsenal and Barcelona for his signature and a nice young keeper in goal. Meanwhile he has appeared just once since returning from a nine-month drugs ban in December.
