Hongla Shown Red In Valladolid’s Frustrating Draw Against Elche

Booked twice for unsportsmanlike conduct, Martin Hongla received a matching order on Saturday, in Valladolid’s one-all draw on the road to Elche.

Martin Hongla played his sixth game of the season with Valladolid on Saturday, and he won’t play the next one. The Cameroonian midfielder is suspended for the next game against Athletico Bilbao on March 17.

The 24-year-old has indeed received red from referee Diaz de Mera who did not forgive him for his handclapping and kicking away the ball gesture in borrowed time (90th + 11). Yet, Hongla had a good game overall.

The former midfielder of Hellas Verone indeed had a good volume of play. He was comfortable in the orientation of the midfeild, stopped opposing counters, and won duels. His club led from the 4th minute before being caught towards the end (90th + 6).
