Humberto And Mendez Speak On Shacks Readiness Against Burkina Faso

By Ngome Michael – Sportsglitz.net

Cape Verde assistant Coach, Humberto Bettencourt alongside veteran midfielder Ryan Mendes have spoken to the press on Cape Verde’s preparedness to face Burkina Faso.

Matchday 2 sets in with group A matches tommorow, January 13 beginning with hosts Cameroon, taking on the Walai Ibex of Ethiopia.

The Blue Sharks of Cape Verde will take on joint bottom Burkina Faso who lost 2-1 to Cameroon.

The approach to a much tougher game for Cape Verde will be quite different.

“Burkina Faso is a different opponent. Different from Ethiopia. This country has different features. That means, we’d need to change the way we approach the game”, temporal touchline man Humberto said.

“We prepare ourselves taking into account our skills. Worth mentioning is the fact that we cannot leave aside our identity.” He added.

Cape Verde got their first three points with 1-0 win over Ethiopia. Midfieder, Ryan Mendes shares the same views with his Manager.

The midfeilder who has been in the ranks of this Cape Verdean team for over a decade, thinks the team has to be ready and better.

“The objective is to do better. Today we gave 3 points, and we’d try to beat Burkina. I think if we can get our first objective, I think we’d do well moving forward”.

Mendes equally noted that the game against Burkina Faso will be an entirely different game and they are ready to win.

A win for the Islanders will grant them automatic qualifier to the knockout stage but however, conquering the Stallions will be a heavy task.
