Former Cameroon ballon d’or winner, Souaibou Marou has left Orlando Pirates of South Africa.
The two parties reached an agreement to end the contract with a year left, as first reported by CRTVs Ben Collins.
The 23-year-old native of Garoua, Souaibou Marou, who played for Orlando Pirates since the 2022/2023 season, was unable to establish himself in the team, due to a “micky mouse” game time.
Meanwhile, Orlando Pirates qualified for CAF Champions League after they played to a 1-ALL draw with Supersport United at the Orlando stadium on the final day of the PSL.
This season the former Coton Sport of Garoua striker only played 107 minutes in 4 games, for no goal or assist.
A short play-time which pushed him to reach an agreement with the club’s management to release him.
The erstwhile Elite One Golden Ball winner, has several call-ups with different Cameroon national team categories including the indomitable Lions, where he was a World Cup campaigner in 2022.
Since the end of the World Cup in December 2022 in Qatar, Marou has completely disappeared from the radar, raising questions amongst top football fans.
At the moment there is no information on his next destination, but sportglitz understands that they’re numerous offers in Europe for the speedster.
