Indomitable & Teranga Lionesses Hold Friendly Talks Ahead Of 10-team Intercontinental play-offs

Both of Africa’s ambassadors prepping for the 10-team Intercontinental play-offs in Auckland – Zealand, are in talks for a possible friendly before the competition kick-starts, sportglitz.com understands.

Initially, Cameroon and Senegal were to play two games in November. The friendlies were called off because Cameroon was unable to get her expatriates, who did not make the trip.

Unlike Cameroon, Senegal managed to get its players plying abroad but the game could not push through.

Before the two failed bfriendlies, the Indomitable Lionesses had played against the Teranga Lionesses in mid-June last year, prior to the TotalEnergies Women’s AFCON in Morocco.

Cameroon is placed in group A of the Intercontinental play-offs, and Senegal, in group B. Coach Gabriel Zabo and his side pit Thailand in the first game. A win will get the three-time AFCON silver medalists a right to play Portugal.

Senegal on the other hand starts its campaign against Haiti and a victory will see them go up against Chile. Team Cameroon arrived Auckland earlier this week, while Mame Cissé’s Senegal left Dakar for New Zealand on Friday.

Cameroon and Senegal found themselves in this position after being unable to get pass the quarter-finals of the 2022 women’s AFCON. However, Cameroon’s win against Botswana and Senegal’s Shootout victory against Tunisia gave the selections renewed hope.
