Inter Confederations WWC Playoffs: Gabriel Zabo Upbeat

After failing to get an automatic ticket to the women’s World Cup at the WAFCON back in July, Gabriel Zabo has admitted that it would be a difficult ask for the Lionesses at the playoffs after the draws, but they could go all the way.

The Indomitable Lionesses gaffer was talking to Women 11 on the chances of getting past Thailand and Portugal.

“It’s a very difficult pool (Thailand and Portugal), due to the fact that both teams are ahead of us in the FIFA rankings. On paper it looks done and dusted, but when you look closely at what these teams present, we have a say. These are teams that we know. We will study their strengths and weaknesses. We will try to capitalize on what we have in the last AFCON and improve our attacking game because defensively we were pretty good.’ the trainer ended.

Cameroon made amends from their WAFCON quarter-finals defeat to Nigeria to beat debutants Botswana and claim a spot for the inter confederation playoff for a place in 2023 Women’s World Cup.
