The Japoma complex, a state-of-the-art infrastructure that has remained dormant since its construction, is now abuzz with activity as it hosts its inaugural event.
Kicking off this new chapter is the FIBA regional youth camp 2024, gathering approximately 40 young boys from 25 different countries. Led by instructors from FIBA and the NBA, this camp aims to nurture the basketball talents of these aspiring athletes.
During the opening ceremony, Christian Njanga Mbongo, the delegate of sports and physical education in the Littoral region, commended the initiative,
“This initiative bringing together about 40 young basketballers is applaudable.”
He further expressed his appreciation for the significance of this event being the first to grace the Japoma complex,
“Talented boys, to get expert training for four days to perfect their initiation in international basketball, and to have this at the Japoma sporting complex is amazing.”
Moreover, the Japoma complex is poised to host the upcoming “Road to Bal” event in the coming days, further solidifying its status as a premier sports venue. This marks a promising start for the facility, breathing life into its cutting-edge facilities and setting the stage for future sporting endeavors.
