Jean-Charles Casttelleto: Indomitable Lions Defender Suspended Until 2023

The Professional Football League (LFP) announced in a press release the suspension of several players playing in the French Ligue 1, including Cameroonian international Jean-Charles Castelletto who plies for FC Nantes.

According to the press release published by the LFP, the Cameroonian is notably accused of not having respected the ban on sports betting enacted by the Sports Code. To do this effect, Jean-Charles Castelletto received a 4 game suspension.

This is not the first time that Castelletto has been involved in the betting business.

When the latter returned to club from the African Cup of Nations earlier this year, he was suspended for three matches by the LFP disciplinary committee.

Professional football players have a general ban on betting on all football competitions, whether domestic or foreign.

The 26-year-old central defender is only apt to resume playing for Nantes as from January 11, when his team receives Lyon at the Stade de la Beaujoire on match day 20.

Castelletto was a key figure in the Indomitable Lions’ World Cup campaign where he played two games for a goal and one assist.
