Jeremy Ebobisse Ends League As Lions’ Most Potent Striker

Lions’ forward, Jeremy Ebobisse and his San Jose Earthquakes teammate – Cade Cowell found the back of the net to pull a 2-2 parity against Seattle Sounders at the Lumen Field on the final day of the MLS regular season on Sunday. Nicolás Lodeiro scored all two goals for Sounders.

Lodeiro opened the scoring with one of the fastest goals of Seattle’s season, firing home his sixth of the season just 24 seconds into the match.

Forward Ebobisse, however, equalized just three minutes later on a rebound off a save from goalkeeper Stefan Cleveland. It was Ebobisse’s 17th league goal added up to two assists this season in 34 games. No Lions striker has come come to that tally just yet.

Lodeiro doubled his tally just four minutes into the second half when he unleashed a wicked right-footed volley from the top of the box off a headed clearance from a Sounders corner kick. Lodeiro finished the season with seven goals, the fifth time in his Sounders tenure that the Uruguayan has scored at least seven times in an MLS campaign.

Ebobisse’s San Jose side ended bottom of the Western conference, and Seattle Sounders equally had a season to forget as well as they missed out on the final series playoffs for the first time in over 13 years.
