Jonathan Ngwem Steals Draw For Future Against Ahly
Jonathan Ngwem was in the thick of the action as Al Ahly were held to a 1-1 draw against Future FC in the Egyptian League on Friday night.
Ahly as usual took he front foot but Hussein El Shahat’s first-half goal was cancelled out in the second half by a goal from Abdelkabir El Ouadi, who was assisted by left back Ngwem.
The Red Eagles of Ahly started as favorites and were confident after a strong start to the league.
Ali Maaloul had several runs behind the visitors’ defense and the attacking line tried to break Future FC’s defensive block.
In the 20th minute, Future FC were forced to complete the game with 10 men as Omar Kamel was sent off after a dangerous tackle against Mohamed Abdelmonem.
In the 30th minute, Mohamed Magdy Afsha was close to breaking the deadlock when he entered the box of Future FC after dribbling two defenders but he did not shoot the ball in the right time.
The breakthrough was well deserved when it came two minutes later as Hussein El Shahat fired a shot from the edge of the box to open the score.
In the second half, Ahly kept up the intensity aiming to double the score and secure the victory.
Four minutes after the break, El Shahat was close to adding his second goal in the match but his efforts were denied.
The 10-time CAF Champions League winners failed to build on the advantage of having a first-half lead and the visitors were able to score the leveller in the 79th minute through El Ouadi.
Hossam Hassan who joined the game after the leveller missed a glorious chance to score from his first touch but his shot hit the bar.
Ahly was awarded a penalty when Bruno Savio was tackled inside the box but Afsha’s shot hit the bar and went wide.
Ahly are stopped atop of the league table with 19 points, while Future FC are 4th with 15 points.
