Julien Kanta’s Stunner Puts Union To The Sword
The Littoral derby was delicately poised until out of the blue, Julien Kanta struck past goalkeeper Samuel Elimbi from range, to win it for Les Astres.
Oumarou Sogba’s charges took the lead in the 11th minute courtesy right back Abel Makani.
However, Jules Armand Kooh just like in the reversed fixture on match day one, scored Astres’ equaliser 11 minutes after Union had taken the lead.
The Brazilians just like the name suggests, had a wonderful build up leading to the second, starting with Bassama from the half way line.
Bassama neatly passed the ball to Kamta with the use of his chest, and then Kamta with a no-look first time attempt bamboozled Elimbi at the 35th minute.
Unlike the first half, there were no goals in the second segment and Astres prevailed with the bragging rights.
The main problem for Tonye Tonye’s Astres has been inconsistency. The win against local rivals Union, got Astres to 8th in group B with 14 points.
Union are 3rd with 17 points and everything still remains possible in group B, pending match day 13 action over the weekend. Astres pits Gazelle while Union logs horns against YOSA.
