Just In: Zambo Anguissa To Miss WC Play-offs Tie Against Algeria

Cameroon will be without Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa for the two legged WC play-offs tie, as the midfeilder reportedly picked up an injury against Udinese in Napoli’s 2-1 win on Saturday March 19.

‘Injured while playing for his club this weekend, Franck Zambo Anguissa will miss the double confrontation against Algeria on March 25 and 29, 2022 counting for the play-offs of the #FIFAWC2022Q African zone. He will be replaced by Arnaud Djoum.’ A statement from the team press officer of the indomitable Lions explains.

Anguissa is set to be replaced by 2017 AFCON gold medalist Arnaud Djoum.

Zambo Anguissa has lined up some games for Napoli since returning from the Africa Cup of Nations, playing in the Europa League play-off, and Serie A.

Sportsgltz.net is made to understand via its source that Anguissa may well be very okay, and just doesn’t want to show up after the sacking of Antonio Conceiçao late last month.

Flash back to when disturbing videos emerged on social media of Anguissa denying a handshake from Choupo Moting after Cameroon’s semis lost to Egypt in the AFCON. Anguissa, 26, had a good relationship with Antonio Conceiçao, but didn’t seem to see in the same direction like Choupo Moting, who himself, was one of the reasons Portuguese trainer – Antonio Conceiçao was sacked.

This is a huge problem for coach Rigobert Song, who was relying on the midfeilder’s abilities to get past the muscle of Algeria.

The man replacing Anguissa is Arnaud Djoum, who was hard hit by injuries in the earlier parts of the campaign.

32-year-old Djoum has played 8 matches this term in the Cypriot first-tier with Apollon Limassol, but hasn’t had enough impact on his side, and he is nowhere close to what Anguissa brings to the table.

The indomitable Lions enter camp on Monday with at least 15 players expected in camp, including new comers; Gael ondoa and Ntcham Olivier.

Cameroon plays the first leg of the WC play-offs against Algeria in Japoma, on Friday – March 25.
