Kolo Toure Takes Charge Of Wigan Athletic

Former Ivorian international defender – Kolo Toure has been  appointed coach of  English side  Wigan Athletic, plying in the Championship. His appointment was made official on Tuesday, and he will be in charge until June 2026, for a period of three and a half years.

The news was confirmed by the club itself, through an announcement on their social networks.

“From the first conversations we had with Kolo, it was obvious to us that he had instantly embraced the values ​​of the club with his enthusiasm, his knowledge, his immense desire to work and be part of Wigan Athletic  throughout the recruitment process”, specifies the Director General of the Latics, Malachy Brannigan, in a press release.

Kolo Touré had served as an assistant in Brendan Rodgers’ staff at Leicester City since February 2019.

Previously, he had also held the position of assistant manager with the Côte d’Ivoire national team.

This is therefore a great experience as a head coach of a team for the first time in his career.

His new adventure will begin on December 10, on a travel to the patch of Milwall, as part of the 22nd day of the English championship
