LA Liga Feminine: Oshoala’s Barca Wins Title With 6 To Spare

Asisat Lamina Oshoala and her Barcelona side won the Spanish premier division for the third consecutive year on Sunday, March 13, 2022 after their emphatic 5-0 victory over Real Madrid, on match day 24, with 6 games to go.

This comes in as wonderful news for Oshoala in less than a week after her contract extension.

Despite her absence on the match day squad due to Injury, Oshoala has contributed 19 goals and 3 assists of her 16 games played.

In Oshoala’s four year stay at the club, it becomes her third Primera Division won.

The Catalans aren’t just winning. The team was crowned Spanish champions for the third consecutive year.

In total, it is the 7th Spanish league title for the FC Barcelona women’s team.

In Oshoala’s absence, Barcelona was carried on Sunday by EX Ballon d’Or winner Alexia Putellas, who scored two goals and delivered an assist before 5,430 spectators at the Johan-Cruyff arena.

Putellas scored two within three minutes prior to the end of the first half (42nd, 43rd) to almost seal victory in the so called classico, against Real Madrid.

Guijarro and Jenni scored second half goals for Barca, intertwined with Babett Peter’s own goal at the 65th minute, to take Barca home and dry (5-0).

These two still meet at the Quarter final of the UCL on March 22.

It truely is a distinctive season for Barca who have played 24, won 24, scored 136 goals and conceded 6.
