LaLiga Brings Action Closer To Hilton, Yaounde

Unaguably one of the most competitive leagues filled with talent, glitz and glamour, La Liga has transcended to the home of football on the African continent (Cameroon), and it is here to stay!

Thanks to the LaLiga Hilton experience concept, Cameroonians had a different taste of the Madrid derby.

The Madrid derby is one of the most anticipated matches of the year in the Spanish La Liga calendar. The match between the two flagship clubs of the Spanish capital is a real meeting of juggernauts.

The La Liga franchise is therefore willing to extend its culture and share values in it’s Central Africa office, thus deciding to collaborate with the Spanish Embassy in Cameroon and the Hilton hotel to set up the “La Liga Hilton experience”.

As its name suggests, it is a unique experience that allows some LaLiga fans to experience key matches in the Spanish league within the environs of the Hilton hotel.

Saturday February 25 was therefore the “D” day. For the first edition of the Liga Hilton experience, the Panoramic bar at the Hilton hotel in Yaounde with a breathtaking view in the political capital was transformed into a makeshift VIP stand at the Santiago Bernabéu stadium in Madrid (the stadium where the 230th Madrid Derby was played).

Colchoneros (Atletico de Madrid supporters) and Merengue (Real Madrid supporters) stormed the edifice to live the unique experience offered to them by the Hilton hotel.

During the 90 minutes which the game lasted, fans vibrated to the rhythm of each action especially with goalmouth actions despite the fact that the goals were scored late.

To furnish the evening, games were organised to allow Real Madrid and Atletico of Madrid supporters to return with LaLiga stamped prices.

“I’m a Real Madrid fan, I came to watch the game and had a good time and now I’m coming home with a shirt from my favorite club. I congratulate LaLiga and the Hilton hotel for this initiative and I hope there will be others,” said a Madrid fan called Maëva, a lucky winner of the predictions game.

According to Trésor Penku, La Liga’s delegate for Central Africa, the LaLiga Hilton experience, which is in its first edition, will for a first year cover four key matches in the Spanish championship.

After the Madrid derby, the classico on March 19 will be next, then the clash pitting Atletico Madrid against Barcelona before finally, the Seville Derby between Betis Seville and Sevilla FC.

With all these appointments, the Hilton hotel in Yaoundé will literally turn into the headquarters of LaLiga fans in Cameroon.
