Le Coq sportif warns FECAFOOT Over Illegal Usage Of Kits

The dispute between the Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT) and equipment manufacturers Le Coq Sportif has not completely been resolved.

The African Nations Championship (CHAN) 2022 has indeed just given rise to a new showdown between both parties.

In a letter signed on January 31, Le Coq Sportif accused FECAFOOT of continues usage of its equipments illegally.

“It has been brought to our attention that your selection wore our products during sports tournaments such as the African Nations Championship which is currently being held in Algeria”, explains Le Coq via a communique.

During the two matches played at CHAN 2022 where the intermediate Lions won one-nil against Congo and lost via same scoreline against Niger, kits of the new equipment suppliers One All Sports were spotted on match days, but the accusations from Le Coq Sportif could boil down to training sessions or non-game ceremonies.

Le Coq Sportif added:
“We are therefore surprised at the preceding elements, especially since you publicly affirmed, on November 9, that you had terminated our agreements”, the firm opined before going on to say that the action is a “ manifestation of bad faith”.

“Considerable prejudice was suffered resulting from your deliberate refusal to perform your contractual commitments, in particular during the last World Cup, which FECAFOOT took itself off our contractual packages unilaterally. So these events naturally causes our franchise great harm.” the sports manufacturers ended.

To recall, Fecafoot had unilaterally terminated its contract with the French brand last August by denouncing non-compliance of its contractual obligations.

Le Coq Sportif then turned to justice and the Paris court ruled to its favour in November by ordering the maintenance of the contract until December 31, 2023.

The firm had nevertheless promised a truce during the World Cup 2022 in order not to “disturb” the Indomitable Lions.
