Ligi Kuu: Yanga Up To 49 Games Without Defeat

Tanzanian football giants, Young Africans SC (Yanga), yesterday cut the cake to mark their 49 Unbeateen matches record celebrations on the Tanzanian Premier League.

Young Africans SC won 2-0 against Mbeya City at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam and made their fans to cheers their new record comparing with the England giants, Arsenal set in 2004 by playing 49 matches in the English Premier League without losing.

Arsenal’s record started in May 2003 when they beat Southampton 6-1 at Highbury, ended in October 2004 after losing 2-0 to Manchester United.

The last time Young Africans SC lost a Premier League match was April 25, 2020 the second leg of 2020/21 season gainst Azam FC with a goal by Prince Dube, at Benjamini Mkapa stadium.

In 49 Premier League unbeaten matches, Yanga SC has managed win 37 games scoring 85 goals, conceding 16 goals, as well as setting a record of winning 34 matches without conceding single goal.

In Africa, Yanga ranked the third behind the Ivory Coast based club Asec Mimosa at the first place who played 108 games without losing in a row of six years from 1989 to 1994.

Esperance de Tunis are in second place after playing 85 games from 1997 to 2001 when they were denied victory in the 86th match after breaking the rule of playing an unauthorized player in their 6-0 victory against Dejrba.

The African giants Al Ahly from Egypt are in forth posstion after having a record of winning 45 games unbeaten in Egyptian Premier League.
