Mahop back to his best, as Cotonsport make light work of Apejes
Last season’s golden ball winner, Emmanuel Mahop bagged a brace as Cotonsport hammered Apejes 4-0 at Omnisport Annex 1 on Sunday, Nov. 26.
Since a shock defeat against Fauve Azur on game day 3, Cotonsport has picked up 13 from a possible 15 points.
Daniel Breard opted to begin with Jean Emmanuel Chamdjou and Emmanuel Mahop on the bench.
As has been the case most recently, Wassou and Bassene led the wings, while Fadyl (behind the trio) assisted forward Yougouda in a classic 4-3-3 formation.
Apejes hung in there until the cusp of halftime (44) when Issa Fadyl stroke what was his 3rd goal of the season.
Three minutes after the hour mark, Wassou Gouegoue added tally for the record Elite One champions.
Emmanuel Mahop then came into the fray with a quarter of the game left, and glided in a brace in 9 minutes (85, 90+4). It was the third goal of the season for Mahop who got 14 last term for Canon.
Despite Stade Renard’s defeat, Cotonsport (17) stay second with two points being the difference after the famous 4-0 win
