Matar Ndiaye On Target As Senegal Defeat Cadet Lions In First Of Two Friendlies

In preparations for the next TotalEnergies U17 Africa Cup of Nations, the cadet Lions suffered a defeat slender defeat on Sunday in Dakar.

In the game that started at 5:30 p.m.was played at the Jules François Bocande Center located in Toubab Dialaw, more than 50km from the team’s base in the Sali district.

The first 45 minutes were dominated by Cameroon who missed a few clear scoring chances. The forwards had a bad day at work. Yondjo, Harouna and Abdoulai lacked focuse to take advantage of their chances. At half-time, the score was goalless.

In the second half, assistant coach Serge Mimpo made some changes to allow everyone time to play. Abib Tize, Aladji Abakar, Dipanda Essono, Mfonka Abdel and Tchoma were thrown into the fray. Serigne Saliou from Senegal also used the same strategy and rotated.

The two selections produced beautiful football. The supporters seemed to enjoy the spectacle produced. However, the young Teranga lions literally dominated the second stanza. They missed a lot of scoring opportunities. It was Matar Ndiaye who scored the only goal of the game in the 78th minute.

The two selections will meet on March 7 at the Lat Dior stadium in Thies for a second friendly match.

Since winning the 2021 AFCON in Cameroon, Senegal has won all competitions in Africa.
