Medals plus prize money makes World Friendship games unique
Even at its infant stage, the World Friendship Games is beginning to put mechanisms in place to solve major problems posed by athletes for more than four decades.
Per credible sportglitz sources, athletes and teams will win prize money aside their medals, something athletes worldwide have asked for a long time.
As regards the prize monies to be won, athletes, for winning the World Friendship Games in 2024 will be compensated with $40,000.
Athletes will receive $30,000 for silver medals, and $20,000 for bronze medals. The first ever World Friendship Games will be held from September 15 to 29, 2024 in Moscow and Yekaterinburg.
On October 19, the tournament was decided to be held by Russian President, His Excellency Vladimir Putin.
Russia’s announcement last year came with their athletes and those of ally Belarus having been largely frozen out of international competition by federations.
The Friendship Games are expected to attract over 6,000 athletes from more than 70 countries, with a chance to quadruple in the coming years.
Paris 2024 will see around 11,000 athletes from over 200 National Olympic Committees, and the Friendship Games could yet pull some attraction off the summer Olympics, with some athletes considering taking part in the World Friendship Games.
