MINSEP Postpones Olembe Handover

By Ngome Michael

Cameroon’s Ministry of Sports and Physical Education has pushed to an unknown date the official handing over of the 60,000 seater Olembe Stadium to its soccer loving population.

MINSEP boss, Prof Narcisis Mouelle Kombi, president of Local organizing committee, COCAN in a communiqué revealed the change of date.

According to the release, the Olembe Stadium which was set to be delivered today, December 03 is currently undergoing some technical operations which caused the changes.

The postponment comes two days after the said structure was expected to be completed as per the Confederation of African Football’s deadline, November 30.

Despite confirmation from CAF President, Dr. Patric Motsepe about Cameroon’s readiness to host the 33rd edition of the African Cup of Nations, doubts continue to linger if the structure earmarked to host the opening game between Cameroon and Burkina Faso is ready for the showdown.

The 2021 AFCON will run from January 09 to February 06 2022 in Cameroon.
