MLS: Wilfrid Kaptoum Ends Regular Season As New England Champion

La Masia Academy graduate and Cameroon international midfeilder Wilfrid Kaptoum, lifted the Supporters’ Shield on Sunday November 8, despite their home defeat (0-1) to Inter Miami.

The 25 year old former Real Betis man and his teammates had to wait
more than two weeks to officially lift the Supporters’ Shield after clinching Major League Soccer’s best regular season record back on October 23, but that was nothing compared to the club’s 26-year wait to claim a first league trophy.

Wilfrid Kaptoum and co finally broke the jinx as the 26 year wait finally came to an end on Sunday evening at Gillette Stadium, where the Revs closed out their 34-game regular-season schedule with an MLS record 73 points and accepted the Shield, lifting the trophy in front of 31,635 boisterous fans.

Kaptoum played 21 out of 34 league games for his club and provided a goal and an assist in the regular season.
