Modern Future edge closer to the CAF Confederation Cup quarter-finals after draw against Supersport U.
Modern Future edge closer to the CAF Confederation Cupt quarter-finals after playing a 1-1 draw with SuperSport United of South Africa.
Future visited SuperSport at Peter Mokaba Stadium as part of the fifth round of the CAF Confederation Cup group stage matches, ending in a 1-1 draw and both teams sharing the points.
Ali Zaza put the Egyptian team in the lead in the 31st minute, and Tendamudzimu Matodzi succeeded in equalizing the score for SuperSport with a header in the 69th minute.
The draw knocks the South African side out of the competition as Modern Future is now nearing a spot in the quarter-finals.
Tamer Mostafa’s side sit second with eight points, two behind already-qualified USM Alger, who will face bottom-placed Al-Hilal Benghazi later on Sunday in Libya.
Future needs Al Hilal Benghazi to stumble against USM Alger to officially secure qualification; however, in case the Libyans win, Future will need to at least draw in their final game in Cairo against them to qualify.
Modern Future will host Al Hilal at Cairo International Stadium on March 3rd, in the sixth and final round of the group stage.
