Moise Katumbi Blames LINAFOOT For DRCs Poor CAF Inter-club Showing

In a press briefing earlier this week, Moïse Katumbi spoke about the below par performance of Congolese clubs in African inter-club competitions.

Explaining the main reason for the tumble of DRC ambassadors on the African level, Moïse Katumbi did not mince words.

“The real problem is the championship. The players have not had time to play, there is no more automation. The problem is the organisation of Linafoot. What result will we expect if not all teams in Congo have a championship?” Katumbi pondered.

While a certain school of thought have advanced the lack of means as the root course of the failures of TP Mazembe in the Champions League and even in the CAF Confederation cup, the business mogul does not see the situation that way. For Moïse Katumbi, financial means alone cannot cover the entire procedure.

“Did we say that at Mazembe we lowered the salaries of the players or are the players owed arrears? We support several teams, you could ask them. We have more than 2,000 young people at the academy,” he said. “When I brought the four African places to the DRC was I governor? It’s been almost two years since the Congolese government took part in the Mazembe trips. Have you seen Mazembe being blocked or chased away in a hotel…”

The Ravens put in adequate conditions to get good performances in Confederation Cup, aired Katumbi: “Just our tour here, we spent more than three weeks and it costed us over $1,400,000. Mazembe left and came back with a chartered plane, and it’s one person’s money. Don’t let anyone deceive you that it’s money that plays on the field. No team has the means like Mazembe. »
