Morocco Vs. Portugal: ‘We had To Write History For Africans,’ Walid Regragui

Fans are running out of adjectives to describe Walid Regragui, whose genius has sailed Morocco through to the last four of the World Cup.

The latter was covered in enthusiasm, after qualification was obtained by Morocco against Portugal (1-0) on Saturday.

The gaffer insisted that his team’s drive is to make the African continent proud.

In the post match presser, Walid Regragui expressed his happiness after Morocco’s victory over Portugal in the quarter-finals of the World Cup. He underlined the behavior of his players and the importance of success for the African continent: “We came across a very great team, once again. They have a lot of talent, but we maximized our chances. We managed to create a group with this state of mind: everyone fights, even those who come into play. We are happy, and the fans back us. Before the game, I told my players that we had to write history for Africa. It’s done and I’m very happy. Africa is coming back to the fore,” he ended.

Morocco will face France next Wednesday in the semis, as Regragui continues to live this fairytale. He won the CAF champions league with WAC earlier this year. The former Moroccan international dreams of becoming the first African manager to win the World Cup, just like he became the first to qualify for the semis.
